Categories of classes

Classes for Everyone - There are a variety of projects included in this category.  Everyone is welcome to create!

Basic Sewing - These classes are focused on teaching fundamental skills and techniques.  We want you to have the know how and confidence to dive in to those beautiful projects you have been drooling over.

Embroidery Club - This is reserved for those who have purchased their sewing machines with embroidery units at the Columbus Sewing Center or Bloomington Sewing Center.  In order to introduce to you the newest products quicker, we will be following a new format for Embroidery Club. The first 30-45 minutes of each Club will be spent showing products and techniques. This session will be free, you do not need to register, and you do not need to bring your machine for this part of the class. After this portion of the class, you will have an opportunity to make a project related to the product or technique shown. A kit will be available for each class. It is advised that you bring your machine if you wish to stay for this portion. However, a limited number of machines will be available for use on a first come first serve basis for class participants. You are not required to sign up for the sewing portion of the class, but advance notice is appreciated, in order to cut kits. Kits will be distributed to those who sign up in advance first.

Viking Club - This is reserved for those who have purchased their sewing machines at the Columbus Sewing Center or Bloomington Sewing Center.  In order to introduce to you the newest products quicker, we will be following a new format for Viking Club. Serger Classes - There's no need to fear that serger.  You can use it in many imaginative ways to save time and frustration on projects whether for function or fun.

New Owners' Classes - These classes are for those who are either new to their machine or software. It is also for those who are not so new and would like a refresher course. Classes are free for those who purchased their machine from the Columbus Sewing Center or the Bloomington Sewing Center. Please call for more information. All classes will last approximately 2-2½ hours.

Open Sew - Calling all unfinished projects!!! Escape from the pressures of life, and spend the day working on your favorite project (or start new one). We will start at 10:00 a.m. and go until we are tired. This day is open for anyone wanting to spend a day with others while sewing, regardless of machine type or skill level.
 

Class Policy

To assure your place in class, you must register and pay for the class in advance. Class sizes are limited, so register early! Class supply lists will be given to you at registration. You will need to bring basic sewing supplies, such as scissors, pins, rulers, seam ripper, and anything else you find helpful. We need at least 4 people minimum for the class to be held. If the class is cancelled you will receive a refund or store credit, your choice. If you do not call or do not show up for a class, your class fee will be forfeited. We will only cut kits for those who have paid in advance. Due to time constraints, we will not cut kits during class time. Please remember to mark your supplies with your name or initials, as we cannot be responsible for lost tools. A 10% discount will be given on class supplies and other merchandise purchased during class. In order to give this discount, we request class supplies be purchased from the Columbus Sewing Center or Bloomington Sewing Center.
